Cover Selector Tool

This page will help determine the size cover set that is needed to fit your director's chair. The #1 thing to remember when purchasing a new cover set is that there is NO STANDARD SIZE. Each manufacturer makes their chair a unique size which allows for many variations of dimensions. At EverywhereChair.com.  we offer stock sizes that are made to fit two brands: Gold Medal and Telescope Casual, We also sew custom sizes that will be made to the exact dimensions ordered.

Stock Sizes: The majority of cover sets sold on our website fit the Gold Medal brand chair, because it is the brand of frames that is stocked in-house. Any cover sets that say Telescope Compatible are made to fit the Telescope Casual brand of chair. To check for manufacturer, look at the hinges under the arms (see example picture below that is labeled TLT, Inc). If it has "TLT" on the hinge, it is a Gold Medal brand of chair. If it has "TSC" or "Telescope" on the hinge, then it is a Telescope Casual brand of chair. If your chair is of unknown origin, the measurements of the cover set need to be determined.

Getting The Cover Measurements: The easiest way to get the correct measurements for a new cover set is to measure your current cover set. We need three different measurements for the seat and three different measurements for the back. Those measurements are the seat width, seat depth, seat loop, back width, back height, and back loop. You will need to remove the cover sets from the chairs and lay them out on a flat surface. You are going to be looking for the complete finished measurements of the covers. For all measurements other than the loop measurements, you are going to measure from the very edge of one side all the way across to the edge on the other side. For the loop measurement, you are going to measure from the edge to the first sew line you come to. On the seats this will probably be an inch or less and on the backs this will probably be around 2 inches or larger. See images below for a layout of the measurements. For detailed videos on how to obtain these measurements as well as how to measure your chair frame in case you do not have a cover set to measure, CLICK HERE.

Do I Order Custom or Stock Sizes: Once you have the sizes you will then know if you can place your order for a stock sized cover set or if you need to order a custom sized cover set. If your measurements match exactly or are within 1/4 inch of the stock sizes listed below, then the cooresponding stock size should work great for your chairs. The measurements listed below are seat depth x seat width and back height x back width. The stick reference is to what style of stick goes inside your seat loops that affix it to the chair. If your sizes do not match up, you will need to order a custom size and have us make it to your exact dimensions. A quick note on returning cover sets. While both of our stock sizes are returnable, the custom sizes are NON-RETURNABLE since they are made to a particular unique set of dimensions.

Cover Material: Now that you know what size cover set to order, it is time to decide on what material you would like to go with. Here at Everywhere Chair, we offer 5 different materials in a large assortment of colors for you to choose from. Those materials are Canvas, Waterproof Canvas, Sunbrella, Phifertex Mesh, and Bonded Leather. Below is a brief description of each material.

  • Canvas - Our most popular material of choice is canvas. Canvas is the material traditionally found on a director's chair and it gives it a nice authentic look. Canvas does have a little forgiveness in size as it does offer a slight amount of stretching. Canvas can be removed from your chairs and machine washed. Doing this does cause the canvas to have some shrinkage. Our cotton canvas is 15 ounce material, the thickest we have found that can easily be installed on a director's chair. When it comes to indoor use, canvas is an absolute go to. If used outside, the sun does bleach out the colors and causes the canvas material to weaken. Because of this, canvas is not the recommended material for outdoor use.
  • Waterproof Canvas - The Waterproof Canvas material comes in a vast range of pattern types. This canvas is not cotton canvas but is 100% Polyester with a plastic PVC backing with a waterproof coating and features mold and UV resistant qualities. The print is only on ONE side of the material. This means that the back or outside portion of the back piece and the bottom portion of the seat will be a solid color and not feature the print. Even though these are waterproof and great for outdoor use, they are not meant to be left out to sun and weather exposure as it will weaken the fabric and cause it to fade. After use, this material needs to be brought inside to avoid damage from the elements.
  • Sunbrella - Sunbrella is a Marine Grade solution-dyed acrylic fabric. Sunbrella is often found in the boating world because of its resistence to fading and ability to tolerate the abuse of the sun. Sunbrella is similar to canvas in look and appearance. It is a thinner material than our standard canvas, but it is just as strong or stronger because of what it is made from. Sunbrella will bead water so it can easily be wiped to a dry, slightly damp level. Sunbrella IS NOT machine washable. Putting Sunbrella through a wash cycle will ruin the look of the fabric. It is meant to be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Sunbrella is the perfect material to be used outdoors while keeping the traditional appearance of canvas.
  • Phifertex Mesh - The Phifertex Mesh covers are made out of Phifertex Plus mesh material. This is an open-weave vinyl coated mesh material making it perfect for outdoor use. It is not an absorbant fabric, so it is easily wiped completely dry for immediate use. This material resists mildew and is easily cleaned with soap and water. It does lack the classic director's chair look, but is the go-to fabric for being used poolside or any other outdoor application.
  • Bonded Leather - Bonded Leather gives an elegant look to your directors chair. Bonded leather is a mixture of both real and fake leather  It is made from scraps and fibers used to make genuine leather and mixed with a polyurethane binder. This is another indoor fabric and one not recommended to be used in outdoor applications.
